Hi, alright, we're in the UK, we're here because our 5 year old told us we have to be :) :) There's 3 of us, Muggins, the Memsahib and our 5 year old Chief of Emergency Services.
This part of Mercia is better known these days as the West Midlands, on what was the Staffordshire/Worcestershire border until somebody messed around with the counties in the 1970's, the name Red Watch comes from the watch system of the British Fire Services, initially 3 watches - Red, White and Blue, now with Green Watch more recently added to ease staffing rotation.
Since Christmas 2011 we have been forced to take an active (and increasingly expensive) interest in all things Playmobil by our little angel, she started with 3 of the 4675 firefighter specials and things seem to be snowballing from there. Muggins here has had an interest ever since seeing the first Louis Marx Playpeople (just given myself away as being a fossil!) in a couple of local toy shops and knowing I was already really too old to get away with having any. The Memsahib has had an interest since she was around 5 and has a much extended Victorian Mansion on her wanted list, complete with kitchen gardens etc. and our Chief of Emergency Services has plans for an entire town! 8}
So, 3 firefighters started it, now there's around 40 of them! along with 3 3880 fire trucks, 3 1/2 3181 4x4's and 2 3178 trailers (do we dare mention 6 non-Playmobil Volvo appliances?) then there's the police with a 4260 patrol car, a 4262 motorbike, 2 4023 police vans and their figures and a couple of the 4902 speed camera equipped officers and the first 4693 SWAT officer. Then there's the paramedics, a motorbike & rider plus the rescue bike & rider, the 4223 emergency vehicle, 3 5952 ambulances and the 5012 Clinic & ambulance set, plus a lot more. Our little angel knows far too much about the emergency services for a 5 year old! On being given the 3180 set, she pointed out that green gastight suits are training ones! ::)
Apart from that we've got a couple of Romans hiding around the place, various civilians & a couple of refuserecycling trucks and the icecream parlor set and a few custom jobs in mind, most of our antics will probably be emergency services based though.
So, here we are, very pleased to be here, our apologies to Sylvia for driving her nuts with emails over the last week :) :) :) here's to making news friends!

A warm welcome from North Yorkshire! :wave: With the choice of emergency services, your little angel has made a sound start in Playmobil. (Hm, "the memsahib" suggests a link with the exotic East.)

Hello and :welcome: to Playmofriends,from Greece!!!

Thanks folks, nice to be made so welcome :) :) As soon as we can get the camera to talk to the computer we'll get some pics posted, I think it was the upgrade from hamster in wheel power to coal fired that did it........
Just remembered, there's a 5705 (where have I heard that number before?) starter set and there's a 5763 dolls house but that's gone on the Santa Express, to be re-delivered at the end of the year, although having seen 1 particular thread I'm now worried about being bombed by the reindeer, I'll have to get the septic services on stand-by.
The "Memsahib" title comes from a couple of years ago when we had the pleasure of a trip to London including lunch at the Union Jack Club where one of the waiters referred to the better half as "the Memsahib" and it sort of stuck, so it's only as far east as Marble Arch I'm afraid.
Mercia Fire & Rescue is coming along, it'll take us ages to get everything we've been ordered to get done by our dear chief, but, we're trying, our first conversion isn't really anything spectacular, we just cut a small bit off the locating lug on the bottom of a 4225 incubator to make it fit into a 5952 ambulance and allow the back doors to close properly, Mini-Chief insisted we did it to represent the vehicle she had her high-speed dash in after managing to die twice in her first 36 hours, we were warned there was liable to be all manner of things wrong with her but thankfully nothing seems to have manifested itself, apart from a serious interest in all things medical, fire & rescue related, not sure if we should repaint the ambulance & attempt to mark it up as Childrens Acute Transport Service, we shall see..........

Wow. So glad she made it through, and she sounds delightful!
-
Thanks :) :) she's certainly a character, at easter she decided to use the money she had to buy herself a 4023 police van from toys r us, discounted at the time to £15, and if you spent £15 or over you got a free egg, she chose the 4932 race driver with go-kart "so he can have accidents & get nicked for speeding" not much we can say to that really :) ::) :)

Thanks folks :) :) :)
Sylvia, thanks for putting up with us & thanks for letting us join :) Nice to be here :) well, here officially, we've been reading the posts for a while, now we're in a position to reply too (some of you may end up wishing we weren't!) ;D 8}
We may be a bit closer to some of you than you think, DrDalek6 we're in your neck of the woods at least a couple of times a year, we get dragged up to West Bar by Mini Chief who insists we visit the museum, Sylvia & Elaine, we will get back on your side of the border someday, we're plotting another visit to Edinburgh if we can fit it in around school for Mini Chief. Bill Blackhurst & Playmofire are probably either going to get sick of us or laugh themselves sick when they see some of the stuff we're up to, Bill, we have family in your neck of the woods, well, in your state at least.
This last weekend saw more recruiting for Mercia Fire & Rescue, Mini Chief spent her pocketmoney (plus some of ours) at toys r us and acquired another 4914 fire rescue squad set, a 5158 surprise bag (elegant woman in white/gold dress) the second one of those that she's got, so she promptly customised it by taking the skirt back off so that it looked different to the other one, and a 4824 helicopter, plus another egg for spending over £15, 4934 this time. The helicopter isn't what we'd consider to be the most realistic but it's what the chief wanted so it joined the fleet, I suspect the 4823 fireboat might be next on the list, it depends on what else turns up.
Thanks again for the warm welcomes :) :)

Sylvia & Elaine, we will get back on your side of the border someday,
If you can make it up to this side of the border at the end of July, try to come and visit the Kirkbean Playmobil Exhibition near Dumfries. I'll obviously be there along with Playmofire and WaltsTrains - you'll be made very welcome. :)

Thanks very much :) :) I'll have to check the diary (when I can find it) Our previous trip to Scotland was most enjoyable, although I promise not to wear a kilt, after, amongst other things, doing work for English Heritage as a Roman auxilliary I was told that my legs, when bare, constitute a Section 5 Public Order Offence! ::) We'd love to make it to the exhibition, no doubt it'd give us far too many ideas, as if I'm not in enough trouble already :)

You can always say you are following Mini Chief's orders, so you're exempted! ;)

Thanks Bill :) I'll try that one out tonight & see if I get away with it :)
