Title: 5972 carrying case knights (also in europe?)
Post by: Hadoque on January 17, 2012, 18:33:30
On Klickywelt I've just found more info about the 5972 carrying case with red/yellow and blue knight; they had a link to an Italian site where the set is mentioned as new at 12,99 euro,
so I guess it will also be available in Europe. :yippee:

There are also great images of other new sets (most already know for 1st half of 2012 in Europe)

If it becomes available here, it will probably be late next year... if not later this year  :-\

That red and yellow knight with the Fleur de Lys. Piece of cake! I can make one. Though I think the yellow reins are new. And…is that a new helmet he's wearing? Not sure with the visor up.
Best,
Arnaud

I do hope they make it here, I like the "Fleur de lys" knight, my French troops need some more men against the English or Flemish, lol! ;)

You know Arnauld, I posted somewhere here that it looked like they ripped your designs off for this knight.  It may not be an exact copy, but he sure does look like something you would create!

Cool!!   8-) Can I order such a horse with "cape", Arnaud?
I still have to send you the detailed info and original ship-stickers for making the "Golden Hind"-ship ones, when I (ultimately  ::)) find enough time to do that, I'd be glad if you also could make me such a horse for the knight from that set!  :-[

Hey! Thanks. This was a rough, I could make it better, providing I can see a better picture of the case.
@Erwin: I made some research on my side. There are actually two Golden Hind reproductions in London. One has this at the aft:

About the horse caparison, I mad several other sketches for this one and I can also try the other knight from this set. The quartered coat of arms might look nice on a horse... ;)

The knights are not too bad, but the box ... a waste of plastic  ::)

I find the carrying cases to be a waste of plastic, too! And if someone from outside the US wanted us to send them one, it just adds unnecessary weight.  ::)

Will the other "US exclusives"  go worldwide?

I recently purchased this set and I agree that the carrying case is a waste of plastic that ups the cost of this set. >:(  It also looks like Playmobil owes the design of the knight in this set to Arnaud! :)

The helmet from this set is not new, but the yellow reins and bridle are.  Also, the red on the tunic and saddle is a darker red while the shield is the normal red.  I would have preferred the normal red for all parts, as it would make him easier to customize.  Still, he's a good looking knight and his blue companion isn't too bad either. :knight:

If nothing else, PM could improve its green credentials. How many millenia would it take for a case like this to biodegrade?  ;D ;D ;D

I agree that the cases up the price but you can use them for spare parts. I have twenty or so of these cases that are packed full of loose parts. I like the cases with dividers better than the open ones.

Happy to report that its now available in Greece for 9,99 euros...

also available: 5970 - Carrying Case Vet Clinic (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5970)
and 5971 - Carrying Case School (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5971)

---EDIT---

however, i think the 9,99 cover the cost of the carrying case, as the content is not very satisfying
Apart from the fluer-de-lis knight, the rest are not thrilling at all... the horse should have a caparison...

OH!  :lens: You mean it's all there? Two figures, one horse and a cannon? That's  not worth it at all! Plus, since I have made the clicky myself, mine is going to have a caparison for his horse too!  :giggle:
The yellow bridles are new, aren't they?
Thanks for the pics, Panos.

Yeah, well, at least I know I won't be buying this set again. But I could ordr some blue klickies to customise for a small faction.

Thanks for the 5972  flash review sir . I like the knight but without the horse caparison he is half the knight he ought to be. i really dont understand playmobil sometimes  :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

I quite like the legs on this knight, usually I am not a fan of armor being part of the legs and arms instead of seperate pieces, but this figure makes it look good. He looks like a realistic medieval knight, unlike some newer knights.

Don't like the blue guy though, might just be the gloves.
Is he of the same faction as those two blue guys of the new superset?

nope, they are a version of the new red falcon knights, but with blueish colours.

Agreed. I think I'll ask arnaud for a caparison for him, after all  ;D

Forgot to mention: I quite like the blue knight. I think those from the new Superset look better, but still. In the Superset it's the red falcon turned light blue, I think.

The blue knight looks like something out of Excalibur. I would like a scabbard that could be fastened to the saddle, like they have in that film.

It seems to be white falcon on blue background 4014 - SuperSet Ritterbastion (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4014&pics=on) but then again, it might as well be light blue  :-\

the cape has a point where a clip can be placed. and the axe can be clipped on it.

---edit---

Btw, a klicky can be a whole different person once customised  ;D

This blue knight is another color of the 4746 special but without the armor. I sorta like this color.

Anraud, I was thinking... this guy definitely needs a fluer-de-lis helmet crest.... actually, it really annoying playmobil has produced so few helmet crests they have created... more so, certain of the ones that are produced are used with coat of arms that do not match whatsoever...
Title: Re: 5972 carrying case knights (also in europe?)
Post by: cowabounga on February 12, 2012, 12:55:43
Well, as I said it before, my friend, the crests didn't necessarily matched the coat of arms. Actually, it was the opposite: most of the time, the crest would be completely different from the coat of arms. And though the coat of arms would pass from a family member to another with a slight change, the crest would remain the same. Those were only worn in tournaments since they were meant to recognize the knight in a melee (and yes, to show off a bit too!)
Same for the caparisons that were too heavy for war.
But, still, I might try a Fleur de Lys crest...thanks for the idea!

I must say after having these knights in hand, the red one has to be one of the best knights pm has produced. It has all the parts I like, the chainmail hair and neck piece and the armor arms. I still say they ripped of Arnaud on this one.

I'd agree with this from what I've seen. I bought two of these cases - mainly for the cases themselves - but then I realised that the red knight was cool, indeed. I even used him in my avatar image, though I might be changing it soon. The new legs are really nice, and both of mine just seemed very well made, unlike say, some of the Dragon Land figures, which seem to me to be a little cheaper in design.

I hope that Playmobil makes more figures of this style, but also I wish they included the trays in the cases again!
